@willywoollove — The truly unfortunate thing about Spider-Man 2 is that it tried so hard to be better than its predecessor but stumbled enough that I've never even watched it a second time all the way through (despite owning the DVD). I like Molina's Doc Ock more than Dafoe's Green Goblin, but the melodrama is just too much for me to sit down and watch it all again.

Then there's Spider-Man 3, which just makes me cringe. More on that in a full review soon, I hope.

I couldn't have put it better myself. I remember watching in the theatre and becoming so bored by the over mellow dramatic parts that I actually thought "this movie sucks". Then there would be these great action parts or cool characters that would remind me how great it was to be seeing spidey on the big screen again. This movie's biggest flaw is not having the action drive the story instead ithas the drama drive and the action as a side note. You put it the best Kris when you wrote;

"Stop beating us over the head with it, or at the very least use a softer hammer."
