The General would've attracted too much attention to run shine. It may have served better as a decoy. More than likely 'sleepers' were the preferred transport.

Hmm, I should find a pair of Daisy Dukes for My Favorite Canadian. She may wear those, but I have my doubts on the knotted men's shirts, as she is opposed to baring her midriff.

No, Laura hasn't made herself a pair of Daisy Dukes. She was watching The History Channel and learned that some shiners and bootleggers kept making booze after prohibition was lifted because they could sell it cheaper than legal alcohol (which was taxed by the gub'mint).

The bootleggers needed fast cars to elude the law when transporting their illicit hootch, so they souped up their rides. From this, NASCAR was born (according to blob, rumor holds that the winner of an early NASCAR race had been running illegal booze earlier that very day).

Watching this, Laura suddenly realized why two good ol' boys in Hazzard County would be driving around in a souped-up Dodge Charger. Uncle Jesse was a moonshiner, after all. It all just clicked into place for her. An epiphany that plays "Dixie" when you blow the horn.

As an aside, I wonder if anyone knows why Bo and Luke originally went to prison? You'll probably recall that their weapon of choice was the bow and arrow. This was out of necessity, as their probation prevented them from using firearms. Uncle Jesse, of course, was under no such restriction, hence his fondness for the shotgun. Might Bo and Luke have been sent up the river for running 'shine? If so, why wasn't the General Lee siezed?

The internets will lead me to the answer, I'm sure.

Soooo,

Did Laura 'modify' a pair of her blue jeans to make Daisy Duke shorts?

Maybe I'm missing somethin' here...

The inferred superiority of one sport (or the fans of) over another is inane. Any sport in which you are a spectator instead of a participant gives the same result, redneck or not.

That aside, as a male coming of age when The Dukes of Hazzard were not reruns, Daisy Duke was proof there was a God.

NASCAR and bootlegging were common story lines on The Dukes. Laura, being too young (and female) to watch the series would have missed the important history lessons learned firsthand. Thank goodness for the History Channel!

The program she was watching dealt with prohibition and bootlegging, from which originated not only The Dukes of Hazzard, but also NASCAR.

Yee-haw!

Something to do with Daisy Duke?

That'd be almost worth an epiphany.

So I've heard.

The disconnect comes with the History Channel. That would take some 'splainin, Lucy.
