5 O'Clock Shadow - 06 April 2007I decided to give Flickr a shot, so I signed up for an account and uploaded all of my five o’clock shadow pictures. I also installed the Flickr Photo Gallery plugin from Silas Partners. The plugin includes a version of Lightbox, which makes me a little nervous as I’ve gotten to like Slightbox over the past couple of months. I’ll have to poke into the code and see if there’s any way to make the photo gallery work with Slightbox.

[Edited to include a more friendly URL for my Flickr album.]

Friday’s Feast – 06 April 2007

Time for another Friday’s Feast.

When you travel, which mode of transportation do you prefer?

Depends on where I’m going. Driving thirteen hours to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a bit of a pain, but previous experience with flying into CMX has proven problematic. The U.P. aside, if the journey would be more than six or seven hours by car, I’d prefer to fly. I’ve never done any serious traveling on a bus or train, but I’d like to try the train someday.

Have you ever met a blogging friend in person?

Most of the “blogging friends” I’ve met in person I met long before any of us ever had blogs. I met Jonobie in the mid-1990’s, when blogs weren’t even a twinkle in any of our eyes. I met Bob and Wesley (who isn’t so much a blogger as he is a podcaster) just after the turn of the century, when blogging sites like LiveJournal were starting to become popular. I met Chris Miller at a local National Novel Writing Month meeting about a year and a half ago and didn’t realize he was a blogger (and podcaster) at the time. I met Misfit Mick Bradley, another blogger who is mostly a podcaster, last fall.

When was the last time you were really, really tired?

As opposed to just really tired? Probably when I was sick a couple of weekends ago and went to bed at 7:00.

If you could have dinner with any one fictional character from a book or movie, who would it be?

I was going to say Gandalf but then I realized that I’d really just like to have dinner with Ian McKellan, who is allegedly a real person. Steve Rogers, on the other hand, is a fictional character who I don’t strongly identify with a real person; he’s also a personal hero, so I’d like to have dinner with the recently departed Captain America.

Fill in the blank: One day, I hope to see _______________.

My young apprentice crush my enemies beneath his bootheel. The enemies as well as the bootheel might be metaphors for social injustice and a new era of equality, tolerance and understanding, respectively, but they might not. So watch it.
