I really liked the first Night Watch film. Kind of ahead of its time with some of the effects. Nothing like the first book as a whole but still good.

BTW, I wrote to the publishers and asked about the rumored 4th (and final) book and they said it should be coming out this summer.

I can’t think of a single effect (other than the subtitles) that stuck out as especially interesting to me. I hadn’t heard a lot of hype about the movie, but what little I had heard made it sound like it was ground-breaking and revolutionary. I didn’t see any of that; not from a story standpoint and certainly not from an effects standpoint.
