I recently upgraded the the HR21 from DirecTv. I was afraid of losing the easy to use TiVo remote and the dual buffers bot so far I haven’t really missed them. Plus DTV rolled out on demand for those of us that have connected the receiver to das Intarweb. Pretty swanky to get Venture Bros. whenever I want! Also the home media networking is pretty slick.

Now that is very interesting, Dave. I’ll have to hook the receiver up to my network, if possible. That was one big drawback of the DirecTiVo: all the fancy media sharing and Internet programming stuff that made standalone TiVos so cool wasn’t available on the DirecTV-branded TiVo. Grr.

As to the remote: Laura hates the new one and regularly says so.

Natalie is incredibly talented. She did the banner for The Secret Lair’s main site as well the orc portrait of me. She also somehow manages to take very nice photographs. And then there’s The Gorgalthumper, which is another kind of cool altogether.

Tonight I learned that Ruby is only seven years old. Yet she takes Max on the bus to go shopping without any parental guidance. What the hell, man?
