Greg — Your experiences with DirecTV have been almost entirely the opposite of mine. I’ve never been saddled with extra charges and they’ve always been very responsive on the customer service front. I did encounter one CSR that, while certainly responsive, didn’t seem to be the sharpest dart on the board, but that was the exception to the rule.

Well, almost. This whole dish relocation would likely be unnecessary if the installer had done what I asked him to do in the first place, namely install the dish as close to the roof as possible. Instead, he installed it about seven feet up on the southeast corner of the house. Perhaps he just didn’t have a long enough ladder to do what I wanted him to.

blob — Alas, I’m not quite in the market for high-definition yet. I did find it interesting that a dish relocation was roughly thirty dollars cheaper than a service call.

However, as this coincides with the time that I will be hopefully obtaining a high-def DVR, which I think requires a different dish anyway, it’s not much of a problem.
